A brand new challenge for high-climbers and thrill-seekers
Run up. Slide down. You versus the clock.
Bring your crew to race against a team of rivals or be a solo challenger.
The UK’s tallest sculpture awaits – 455 steps up the ArcelorMittal Orbit, one of the best 360-degree views of the city followed by London's favourite and the World’s longest and tallest tunnel slide, twisting and turning all the way down to Earth. Race against the clock to make it up to the top viewing platform; recover for a souvenir photo before taking the 40-second slide back to the bottom.
What is it?
Starting with your on-the-ground briefing, you’ll be ushered to the start line for your exclusive slot. On the starter’s gun you’ll fly off one challenger at a time, into the 350m staircase chamber, that skirts to the viewing platform at the top of London’s iconic ArcelorMittal Orbit.
Keep your head as you look out through the staircase, escalating up over the London Stadium, Canary Wharf, Westfield Stratford City, Docklands and the City of London. As your legs feel the burn and your heart races to keep up, you’ll orbit the loops and curves of Sir Anish Kapoor’s structure 7 times before your 455th step to the top across the finish line.
Take a moment to enjoy the view, grab a drink and catch your breath – before the hair-raising slide down. Opened in 2016, The Slide was named No.1 Thing to Do in London by Time Out in 2016, promising a 40-second thrill through clear and dark sections including the ‘bettfeder’ –the German word for ‘bedspring’ and end with a 50m straight run back down to the bottom of the ArcelorMittal Orbit.
Your climb time will be ready for you to pick up instantly from the UpSlideDown hub, with our live individual and team leaderboards showing your ranking amongst your fellow challengers.
Challengers are welcomed as individuals or in teams of 5. Places are limited and must be booked in advance. Entry fees include an exclusive UpSlideDown head band, medal and a good bag for each challenger.
